Hair Transplantation

Hair transplantation is really about relocating (transplanting) the bald resistant hair follicles from the back of the head to the balding areas on the top of the head. This process works for a lifetime because the hair follicles taken from the back of the head are genetically resistant to baldness, regardless of where they are relocated.

The donor tissue is removed in one piece. This is to ensure that the follicular units being relocated from the back of the scalp are not damaged. An integral part of hair follicle transplant is the single-strip harvesting as it preserves the follicular units. It also ensures that no damage is caused to the individual hair follicles.

After harvesting a donor strip, the strip will now be dissected into micro/macro follicular grafts under high-resolution microscopes. These small follicular grafts are then planted carefully into the scalp or thinning/bald areas (recipient area).

Hair Transplant is considered a minor surgery, which usually takes 3-8 hours depending on the patient's number of grafts and condition. Patient will be under local anesthesia and oral medication for sedation. At the end of the procedure, a light dressing will be applied accompanied with a clean bandana or hat to protect the grafts from harm. Click on Strip FUT or Follicular Unit Extraction(FUE).
